Rooms with Views: Spadari Al Duomo

Arty boutique hotel in the centre of Milan…

I have to admit I have been gatekeeping this elegant little hotel. A stone’s throw from the Piazza del Duomo, it has an excellent location in the city to cater to a variety of tastes. But what makes this hotel extra special is the family that runs it. In a city of business and a fast pace, most service in Milan hotels is a bit cold, professional but for the most part not welcoming. Not so at the Spadari where I found a warm reception, accessible help, and top service.

I love the art gallery feel of the hotel, in a calming blue palette, with light wooden accents, it is very inviting and stylish. There is a welcoming sitting area, and in the mornings they have a buffet breakfast service included along with a complimentary aperitivo hour when they serve prosecco. There is also a trolley of still and sparkling water where you can help yourself to a bottle anytime you want. I found that a nice touch.

The rooms continue the decor in the dusty blue colour scheme with crisp white linens, desk, and a cosy sitting chair to relax in. There are arty accents with the light fixtures and a sculptural table lamp, along with the bed’s headboard design. The room was equipped with a kettle alongside coffee and teas to choose from. The bathroom was quite large with both a bathtub (yea!) and a shower. The room was very comfortable and kept spotless throughout my stay.

This hotel gave off quiet luxury vibes. While not technically a luxury hotel, it is a stylish hotel, small, quiet, but well appointed. The service is top-notch, attentive service, equal if not better than the big hotels near by. I have been going back for years now and I cannot recommend this place enough. Milan’s hidden hotel gem.

Please note I paid for my own stay at the Spadari al Duomo. This is my personal review based on my stay here.
