Perfectly positioned on the grand Piazza della Republica, the Hotel Savoy couldn’t be more central. Or more elegant. Yet this baby grand hotel is not at all stuffy, its’ comfortable modern elegance makes for calmness and relaxation in the most stylish way. Decorated with Armani style colours with fashionable touches throughout the graceful property, all make for a refined stay.

Many rooms offer views over the Piazza della Republica which means you wake up to Florence right at your feet. All rooms in all categories are stylish and very comfortable in light earth tones and small flashes of colour. The beds are so comfortable and you just sink into them after a long day for a soothing night’s sleep. If beautiful Firenze wasn’t outside you could happily turnover and sleep in but the city calls you from the view from the window. The bathrooms, while small, are luxurious in sandy polished marble and decorated bath space, complete with plush towels and fluffy robes. Though the Ren bath products were not my overall favourite, they were generously replaced upon use by housekeeping who were flawless and always seem to have had my room cleaned and perfect while never being seen or heard. They were magical in that knew just when to enter and do turn down service, or clean and never disturbed while I was in the room itself. And as a returning guest I got the most wonderful gift, a box of fancy cantucci which I have to say thrilled me and made me feel so welcomed.
Fashionably styled room
The hotel boasts a wonderful restaurant L’incontro right on the piazza with a small hip cocktail bar perfect for taking aperitivo. Buffet breakfast included in most stays is a treat as what can be better then starting off your day overlooking the piazza and drinking it all in with your coffee. Walk out the door and the you are just around the corner from the Duomo Santa Maria del Fiore, a minute walk to the shopping on Via Tornabouoni, or an easy 4 minute walk to Ponte Vecchio. Or just cross the street and you are at the famous Caffe Gilli.

A special note must be made about the impeccable Concierge service on staff. Florence with all its sights, events, and museums is a lot to remember but ask a member of the Concierge staff at the Savoy and they know every detail. Their recommendations for restaurants were always great choices and not run of the mill tourist places, the information needed was always up to date. They arrange anything you could possibly need instantly and without fuss. I wanted to book a car to the Tuscan countryside and there too they had choice recommendations on local villages and points of interest. They were outstanding and I could totally count on them during my stay.
Ren bath products
One of my top choices in hotels, my stay is always perfection and thoroughly enjoyable. From the location, to the handsome property and most especially the outstanding staff, staying at the Hotel Savoy is the very definition of staying at a luxury hotel.
View from my room: Sunrise over Piazza della Republica
Pros: Best location in the city, stylish accommodations and outstanding service.
Cons: None really, except perhaps the excessive American tourist presence.
Extras: The best Concierge staff in the business. And on a side note: WiFi is free even though it says you must pay at sign in.
