Its all about location, location, location! And the iconic Quisisana has the best location on the Blue Isle. Overlooking the sea, some rooms even offering views of the Faraglioni rocks, while land side there is pole position to the designer shopping streets. With a short walk to the piazzetta and close to the famed Augustus Gardens you really can’t get much better.
And yes, it is a Grand hotel, quite big in size and drama of its decor. Polished floors and gilt trim aren’t to everyone’s taste but it does reflect the light and azure sea spectacularly. This is a hotel with a glitzy past, celebs have been photographed here while at legendary parties. Nothing reflects that more then the resort’s pool, centered in the middle of manicured gardens and views of the sea. Cue the paparazzi and bring on the cocktails.
The rooms have a certain polished decadence to them. Golden touches with pale blue and white painted floors are very comfortable. My room was quite spacious with a generous balcony space that offered a breathtaking view of the sea. I happily spent late afternoons with some limoncello relaxing there. And the bathroom was a real treat. That in itself could have been a second room with both a jacuzzi bathtub and separate power shower. But what really gave the room stay that extra special touch were the bath amenities! Proper bath bottles of soap and shampoo, not tiny trial bottles but real luxurious bath products. My favourite was a bottle of perfume water -oh! and scented candle. Just extra touches that set the stay apart from other hotel stays and made it all feel more special.
The staff was immensely helpful and had a pleasant disposition doing anything that was asked of them. The housekeeping staff though were outstanding, like magical fairies that never bothered you when you were in your room but made sure everything was sparkling and in its place when you returned. They even laid out my nightgown on the bed. The Concierge desk was efficient and knowledgeable to everything regarding the island. They were helpful in anything that was asked of them and that included a last minute change of travel plans. All done quickly and without a fuss.
The hotel is well appointed and boasts a Krug champagne bar, two restaurants, one of those by the pool, a spa, and a wonderful terrace bar that serves a fantastic aperitivo hour. I enjoyed an Aperol spritz while people watching.
Even with its grandeur the Quisisana felt utterly relaxing to stay in. Perhaps part of that has to do with the island and its slower pace, but it all felt quiet cozy somehow. It makes a comfortable stay for many different types of guests whether that be couples, families, or solo travellers, it ticks all the boxes to accommodate all their needs. I found every aspect of my visit with the hotel a wonderful experience and would highly recommend it.
