I know Italy well. I know the best gelato is in Rome, the best afternoon on the piazza is in Florence, and the best artisan shopping is in Venice. My favourite Tuscan hill town is Monetpulciano along with probably the most spectacular view with a cup of espresso. To say I love Italy is an understatement. However with all my travels I am embarrassed to say I have never been further south then Sorrento, and even that was a quick afternoon stop. I have so wanted to go to the Amalfi Coast and Capri for ages but kept saving it for something special, or for when I had more time to do it properly. But after what has been an awful first half of the year, I decided it was now or never and no matter what I was going to go to the Amalfi Coast. Now!
The trip was haphazardly thrown together, at best. It will be the beginning of the high season, hotels are at their most expensive. So be it. It could have been planned better. Doesn’t matter. I’m going. I’m packing the Pucci, the big sunglasses and the Capri slacks. I have even thrown in the hot pick top. When life gives you lemons, you go to Capri and sip limoncello!
I just got back from Capri and I am so happy you are exploring it! It is well worth the trip. So enchanting.
I LOVED it! Already planning a return trip.
My husband and I returned from their last November. Oh my goodness you are in for a treat. We stayed in sorrento And had what I would call ” not your averse travelers” experience. It was Devine. Enjoy yourself !! Make sure to check out the hillside village of Ravello… It’s a hidden treasure!
I loved it there! You are right Ravello is a treasure. And I liked how every village had its own different vibe and sense of place.
